Maui and the giant fish
A very long time ago. When maui fished up new zealand.
This is how it happened everyday maui wished that maui could go fishing with his brothers but his brothers would not let him but his ancestors said that he would be a great fisherman
So one day maui snuck onto the waka with his brothers and hid at the bottom of the waka
And the brothers sailed out to sea. When maui heard the anchor drop he knew it was time to fish and he showed himself and the brothers were angry at maui and his brothers said what are u doing here you set us up thats why were catching no fish. Maui spoke up my ancestors said i would be a good fisherman and he told them to throw there lines out and he would do a karakia to get all the fish they will ever get they throw there lines out as maui is saying his karakia and instantly the waka is full of fish. And then maui says it is my turn and he pulls his line out of his bag and his brothers are laughing at him you will be lucky to catch a piece of seaweed with that one of the brothers say or a piece of driftwood to float home on as the brothers are laughing maui asks for a piece a bait they laugh at him more, maui is really angry so he clenches his fist and hits himself in the nose and covers his hook with the blood and throws his line out while he says his karakia. While his brothers are laughing at him, his line gets pulled and the waka is speeding through the water as the brothers are screaming cut the line maui we are all gonna be drowned soon but maui holds on tight and the fish slowly comes up to the surface the brothers are in shock.
And maui says to his brothers stay here and look after this creature as i go get the people from haiwake to live on this big island and the brothers chopping at the creature and taking the big pieces for themself.
And thats how maui new zealand was fished up.
The end.
