We have been learning to write explanations
we have been writing about our environment and pollution (air, soil, water).
we have learned about global warming and plastic. we have written to
explain the problem and how we can solve the problem

Plastic pollution

Plastic is not biodegradable. every year millions and tons of plastic is ending up in our oceans. Sometimes the current pushes the plastic to a big gyre like a large whirlpool the rubbish gets torn up and turned into little pieces which is the worst. There are 5 giant garbage patches located at the north atlantic, south atlantic, the north pacific, the south pacific, and the indian ocean the biggest garbage patch is the north pacific garbage patch.

We shouldn't be using water bottles, plastic bags, and straws. It is also our responsibility to recycle all materials properly. There is no way of filtering out the millions of millimetre sized plastics that have ended up in our oceans. There is also plankton its growing across the oceans so you get green goo mixed with little bits of plastic.

Over the last ten years we have been producing more plastic than all of the 20th century. How do we save the pollution crisis? We should use alternatives to plastic such as paper or glass. The biggest garbage patch is 3x of france the patch contains about 1.8 trillion pieces of trash which equals 250 pieces for each human.

my narrative

Hundreds of years ago in the deep blue ocean, lived a shark named Brutus he lived by himself he had green eyes and was still a young shark he lost his family a couple years ago when he was out hunting when he got sidetracked and he got caught in a rip. Ever since then he has constantly been looking for his family but has had no luck, he had a big brother named iti he's a old shark whos still living with his family he misses his little brother Brutus they have also been looking for him but sadly had no luck.

But Brutus realised someone had to know where his parents lived so he swam and swam until he came upon a octopus that looked familiar his name was tentiticles but Brutus wasn't sure if he knew the octopus he asked the octopus “do know who my family is my brothers names iti” the octopus replies “ no i do not know your family but i do know iti” really Brutus says “yes he's a old friend of mine” well do you know where he is “ no i do not i haven't talked to him in a long time” Brutus sighs ok then bye.

Brutus keeps swimming until he sees a shark before Brutus even gets to say anything the shark says Brutus is that you yes yes thats my name how do you know i'm a old cousin of yours waru you probably don't remember me but i was there when u were born your family has been looking for you for a very long time last time i saw them they said that they were going to live somewhere else i haven't seen them since that day. Brutus asks did iti go with them no said waru iti stayed behind but he's a old shark now do you know where he's living asked Brutus no i sadly do not i haven't seen him in a very long time sorry Brutus.

But we can try where he used to live said waru yes yes let's do that agreed Brutus so Brutus and waru swim to where iti used to live. They arrived at the location no one was there until out of nowhere a stingray gives them a fright are u looking for someone the stingray says yes we're looking for a shark by the name iti oh yes the stingray replies he's a old shark now he's just around the corner yes thanks replies Brutus. Brutus is so excited he hasn't seen his brother in a very long time and then before Brutus gets to finish his sentence a big old shark scares them iti is that you says Brutus yes now who are you i'm Brutus your little brother. Iti gets so happy BRUTUS! I haven't seen you in a long time where have u been ive been looking for you says Brutus and now i have finally found you. Without that big stingray we wouldn't have found you oh and of course the help of waru thanks guys says Brutus.

THE END.

Maui and the giant fish

A very long time ago. When maui fished up new zealand.

This is how it happened everyday maui wished that maui could go fishing with his brothers but his brothers would not let him but his ancestors said that he would be a great fisherman

So one day maui snuck onto the waka with his brothers and hid at the bottom of the waka

And the brothers sailed out to sea. When maui heard the anchor drop he knew it was time to fish and he showed himself and the brothers were angry at maui and his brothers said what are u doing here you set us up thats why were catching no fish. Maui spoke up my ancestors said i would be a good fisherman and he told them to throw there lines out and he would do a karakia to get all the fish they will ever get they throw there lines out as maui is saying his karakia and instantly the waka is full of fish. And then maui says it is my turn and he pulls his line out of his bag and his brothers are laughing at him you will be lucky to catch a piece of seaweed with that one of the brothers say or a piece of driftwood to float home on as the brothers are laughing maui asks for a piece a bait they laugh at him more, maui is really angry so he clenches his fist and hits himself in the nose and covers his hook with the blood and throws his line out while he says his karakia. While his brothers are laughing at him, his line gets pulled and the waka is speeding through the water as the brothers are screaming cut the line maui we are all gonna be drowned soon but maui holds on tight and the fish slowly comes up to the surface the brothers are in shock.

And maui says to his brothers stay here and look after this creature as i go get the people from haiwake to live on this big island and the brothers chopping at the creature and taking the big pieces for themself.

And thats how maui new zealand was fished up.

The end.

A moment in time.

I see the ugly scaly alligator trying to devour the timid, green frog.

I hear the snapping jaws of the fierce intimidating reptile.

I hope the tiny fragile frog survives the snapping sharp teeth.
